Following yesterday’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Direct, the Nintendo UK website has been updated, confirming that the ability to move save files for the game from one console to another will be coming later in the year.

This game does not currently support the ability to transfer your save file from one Nintendo Switch console to another. However, a function specific to Animal Crossing: New Horizons to move users and save data to another console is planned for later this year.

During yesterday’s Direct, it has also been confirmed that it will be possible to upload Animal Crossing: New Horizons save data online and then recover it later in case the local file has been lost, but only once. This far from being optimal, especially in this day and age, but it’s at least better than nothing.

In case you missed yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, you can check it out in full below to learn all the latest information on the game.
