Right from the expansion’s announcement, it was made clear that Sunbreak would include new monsters. But what about new subspecies of already available monsters? Let’s find out.

Are New Monster Subspecies Included in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak?

During the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Digital Event aired on May 10, 2022, it has been confirmed that the expansion will include new monster subspecies. How many of them will be included has yet to be confirmed, but we do know that at least two of them will be in.

The two monster subspecies confirmed for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak so far are Aurora Somnacanth and Magma Almudron. While the two subspecies do not look all that different from the regular monsters, they do come with plenty of differences. Aurora Somnacanth, for example, will be able to freeze hunters with its freezing breath, instead of putting them to sleep, while Magma Almudron will use lava to take down hunters, instead of mud and water like the main monster species.

As two monster subspecies would definitely be too low for a massive expansion like Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, we should expect more to be included in the game, for the joy of all hunters who cannot wait to be challenged by old and new monsters alike!
