Alchemy has always been one of the most important mechanics in the Atelier series since its beginnings, and things are not so different in Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy, despite the many changes to the formula introduced in the game. Creating items with Alchemy requires Ryza to find different ingredients, which can be found on the field, in ruins, and even in the main city.
As gathering items is so important in the game, we have put together this guide that goes over the basics of item gathering and how to maximize it as much as possible.
Gathering Basics
Gathering items in Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy is very simple. All over the game’s world, you will find spots that Ryza can interact with by pressing the Y button. Before pressing the button, you will see a bubble over the character which will tell you which item you may be able to gather from that specific spot. Not all gathering spots can be interacted with at the beginning of the game, as you may need specific tools to interact with specific gathering spots.
Gathering Tools
Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy features different gathering tools that are required to interact with certain gathering spots. These tools are the Axe, Bomb Rod, Bug Net, Fishing Rod, Rod and Sickle. A few of them can interact with the same gathering spots, like the Axe and the Bomb Rod, but they will let you gather different items. If you need burnt items or ashes, you will pick the Bomb Rod over the Axe, for example.
To learn which items can be gathered by which tool, all you need to do is press the L button while near a gathering spot. Remember that items you get are picked at random from the available item pool, so you may not get the item you want all the time.
Maximizing Gathering
All the available tools in Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy can be upgraded to improve your gathering efforts, and the higher the tool’s quality, the better the items you will get. The available upgrade levels are Capable, Proper, Expert and Masterful. All tools can be upgraded, so make sure to make it a focus during your adventure to be able to gather more and better ingredients and, in turn, create better items via gathering
