This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Fans of the stylistic adventure/puzzle game 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and its sequel Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward will be happy to hear that Spike Chunsoft, the developer behind both games, has released a new interactive visual novel for iOS devices titled Banshee’s Last Cry.

While Banshee’s Last Cry lacks many of the more “game-centric” elements of Chunsoft’s previous projects, it still has the same “choose your own adventure” setup as 999 and Zero Escape, allowing the reader to pick and choose different choices and decisions for the main character. Also like 999 and Zero Escape, Banshee’s Last Cry contains a staggering amount of different endings, 30 in total, for readers to try and work their way towards. The novel’s story sounds like it’s part ghost story and part “whodunit” murder mystery:

Banshee’s Last Cry is a thrilling visual novel that takes readers on a deadly thrill ride of murder and deception. Set in a snowed in hotel lodge during Christmas, vacationers find themselves caught up in a murderous “whodunit” game when someone winds up dead. Local legend tells of a banshee whose screams can rip through flesh, but, is the killer really a deadly monster or the work of a madman?

Banshee’s Last Cry is available now via the iTunes app store for both iPhone and iPad for $3.99.
