Assists

  • This unit has no inherent Assist skills.

Specials

  • Vital Astra: Boosts damage by 30% of unit’s Spd. If unit’s Special is ready and unit’s Spd > foe’s Spd, reduces damage from area-of-effect Specials (excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials) by percentage = difference between stats × 3 (max 30%). At the start of combat, if unit’s Special is ready and unit’s Spd > foe’s Spd, reduces damage from attacks during combat by percentage = difference between stats × 3 (max 30%). (Damage-reduction effects above are considered non-Special effects, so skills like Deadeye still apply.)

Passives

  • Atk/Spd Solo (A): If unit is not adjacent to an ally, grants Atk/Spd+7 during combat.
  • Spurn (B): If unit’s Spd > foe’s Spd, reduces damage from attacks during combat and from area-of-effect Specials (excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials) by percentage = difference between stats × 4 (max 40%). If unit’s HP ≤ 75% and unit’s attack triggers Special, deals +5 damage when Special triggers.
  • Even Tempest (C): At start of even-numbered turns, unit can move 1 extra space. (That turn only. Does not stack.)

Strategy & Builds

If it wasn’t already clear from her base stats and skills, Mareeta: Astra Ascended is quite the beast. Ascending Blade‘s passive allows Mareeta to trigger Vital Astra at least once every battle, which is devastating to say the least. That’s why most builds with her keep Ascending Blade, as it’s too strong to replace. Ascending Blade also cancels follow-up enemy attacks, and should an enemy still manage to get an attack off, Vital Astra can reduce the damage significantly.

To increase Mareeta’s versatility, you can swap out her A passive for something like Distant Counter, which enables her to counterattack regardless of distance. For B passives, Vantage can help her strike first if she’s hurt a bit, and this can easily make her untouchable due to her high damage. If you swap out her default A passive, you can also swap her C passive for Joint Drive Atk to help boost your allies.

Another popular build to run on her is to use Galeforce instead of Vital Astra. Ascending Blade is powerful on its own, so even without Vital Astra, Mareeta gets another action which can let her do all sorts of things. You can play very aggressively with this build, and even if Mareeta bites off more than she can do, Spurn can be used as a failsafe.
