The introduction of cel shading in Fortnite started in Chapter 2 Season 2, with TNTina using the first ever cel shaded transformation emote. Cel shading is a rendering technique used in character design to make 3D characters look like flat, cartoonish images. It is particularly effective with skins based on anime and cartoons as it uses black lines and a lot of block coloring. The list below shows some of the most popular and fun cel shaded skins used in Fortnite so far.
Best Cel Shaded Skins in Fortnite
Starting with the OG TNTina, of course, here are the top cel shaded skins available in Fortnite!
TNTina
The first ever cel shaded skin in Fortnite, exclusively available through the Chapter 2 Season 2 Battle Pass. TNTina could emote from her regular 3D skin to a special cel shaded version!
Rick Sanchez
Straight from Adult Swim, Rick Sanchez of Rick and Morty fame is perfect for this cel shaded style. He was a skin exclusive to the Chapter 2 Season 7 Battle Pass. The Rickest Rick of them all: Rick C-137.
Toon Meowscles
Inspired by old-fashioned black and white cartoons of the early 20th century, Toon Meowscles first arrived in the Item Store in Chapter 2 Season 6. He costs 1,400 V Bucks on his own, or 1,700 in a bundle with Toona Can back bling, Ten-Ton Toon Bells harvesting tool, his own music, and a loading screen. He even had his own built-in emote!
Naruto Uzumaki and Kakashi Hatake
This bundle looks like it arrived straight out of the Japanese manga series. The cel shading is so well done that any Naruto fan would be pleased to add them to their collection. This special set was first introduced in Chapter 2 Season 8 and cost 2,100 V Bucks for the two skins, Pakkun back bling, Scroll back bling, and a loading screen. Individual skins were 1,500 V Bucks with their respective back bling.
