Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster

Best Magatama to Use in Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster features the deep Magatama customization system that lets players ingest different Magatama to learn skills and alter the Demi-Fiend’s stats and resistances. As such, not all of the Magatama are great to use at all times, as some should only be ingested to learn skills, while others should be ingested for boss battles and so on.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster

Right from the start of the game, and throughout the adventure, you should always try to ingest Magatama that make the Demi-Fiend learn skills that can damage multiple targets. You will be fighting a lot of random encounters throughout the game, and you can make things easier if you have a skill that can target multiple demons that are weak to specific elements. Wadatsumi and Shiranui, for example, let you learn Ice Breath and Fire Breath, two skills that work great at the start of the game, especially if you have learned Ice and Fire Boost as well. By switching out Magatama and skills that target multiple demons’ weaknesses, you will be able to clear most random encounters with ease.

Things are a little different for boss battles. Bosses in Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster hit hard, so you need to give them as few extra Press Turns as possible. As such, you should ingest Magatama that have no weaknesses, like Djed, Muspell, and Vimana. They do not possess amazing skills, true, but the fact that the enemy cannot exploit any weakness is a major plus in their favor. The Kamudo Magatama is also a very good Magatama to ingest for boss battles, as it makes the Demi-Fiend resistant to physical attacks.

Once you find all Magatama, you should unlock and then ingest the Masakados Magatama for boss battles, as it voids every type of attack and grants amazing stat bonuses.

Worst Magatama to Use in Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster

While there aren’t bad Magatama in the game, not counting those starting Magatama that make you learn skills that are superseded by better ones, there are a few Magatama that you should avoid ingesting unless you want to learn a specific skill. Magatama that make you weak against Death and Expel, for example, will make your life very hard, as they make the Demi-Fiend way too susceptible to instant kill skills. Many demons in the game are also resistant to the Mudo family of skills, so avoid ingesting Magatama that grant these skills unless you are in an area where you know there are demons weak to them.
