Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires features hundreds of different officers, but the ones you should be looking to recruit as the Musou Officers, which could be considered as the game’s main characters. Among these Musou Officers are some extremely powerful warriors like Cao Cao, Cao Pi, Cao Ren, the mighty Lu Bu, Zhang Fei, Zhang Yu, Sun Ce and Sun Jian, just to name a few.

Recruiting officers is mostly done after winning battles, but this makes it difficult to recruit a specific one. To do so, you will have to use the related option found in the Military Affairs menu during your turn. With this option, you will have to appeal to an opposing kingdom, something that may fail if you have a bad relationship with said kingdom.
