Ghostwire Tokyo, the latest game from Tango Gameworks, is an action-adventure due for release on March 25th. Published by Bethesda Softworks, who also brought us fan-favourites Fallout and Elder Scrolls, this highly anticipated FPP game features a protagonist who fights ghosts haunting Tokyo using their paranormal abilities. Shinichiro Hara, combat director, has described the gameplay as “karate meets magic”, thanks to the mystical hand gestures used in-game inspired by Kuji-kiri. The game is set to be released on Playstation and Microsoft Windows, with plans to release it also on XBox in the future.
Ghostwire Tokyo Compatibility on Steam Deck
Steam Deck requires games to be verified for compatibility before being released on the platform. Being released on Steam is not enough. The game must pass four checks:
- Input – the game needs full controller support, and interact seamlessly with the Deck.
- Display – the game should support the default resolution of 1280×800 (or 1280×780). It should also have legible text and decent default settings.
- Seamlessness – the game should be navigable with a controller, and have no display warnings.
- System Support – the game, if running through Proton, should be fully supported by Proton, and include anti-cheat support.
As long as Ghostwire Tokyo ticks all of Steam Deck’s compatibility boxes, it could be playable on the Deck but it is not verified right now. Do not lose hope, though, as other similar games are available on the Steam Deck so it is entirely possible Ghostwire Tokyo will also be verified after its release! If you are specifically looking forward to playing the game on Steam Deck it is worth waiting for verification. You can check for official verification through Steam search by filtering the game with the option ‘Narrow by Deck Compatibility’, and selecting Verified or Playable. If it does become officially verified, it will display its compatibility on its Steam info page.
