Everybody knows about Pikachu, Pokemon fans’ favorite Electric mouse, and the mascot of the Pokemon franchise; but what about its evolution, Raichu? It has certainly not been given as much attention as its pre-evolution. Even in the anime, Ash’s Pikachu refuses to evolve into a Raichu when attempted to use a Thunder Stone on him.
But does this mean that Raichu is bad in any way? Not at all! Raichu is in fact, a direct upgrade from Pikachu, as it possesses much higher stats than its pre-evolution, and learns some very strong moves.
One of those moves is Thunder, which is known by Raichus in every other game before Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Does the newest installation in the Pokemon game franchise let Raichu learn Thunder? Read on to find out!
Can Raichu Learn Thunder in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Raichu can most definitely learn the move Thunder. This move has had a slight rework when added into the newest installment of the Pokemon game franchise, however.
Instead of Thunder being move with 110 base power, Pokemon Legends: Arceus has increased its base power to 165! The accuracy and PP of the move remain the same, at 70 and 10, respectively.
Raichu learns the move Thunder naturally, by leveling up. Thunder is the final move that Raichu learns at Level 47. However, Raichu can only access the Strong and Agile Styles of Thunder when it reaches Level 59, as that is the Level at which Raichu “masters” the move Thunder.
Thunder is a special move, utilizing Raichu’s higher offensive stat, its Special Attack, making Thunder a very strong skill to bring into all kinds of battles. Be wary of its unreliable accuracy though, and only use Thunder if you can afford to miss, or if you need a very strong move to fire off.
