Hogwarts Legacy is a fantastic open-world game that takes you through the wizarding world and allows you to explore the famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like never before. There is a lot you can do around there, and many have praised the game so far, with some even calling it one of the best of the year.
And like in other magical titles with an open world, you come across a bunch of different creatures in Hogwarts Legacy. Some will try to rip you apart, while others will come off friendly, at least at first. You can find and rescue various beasts and nurture them, including dragons. However, can you capture a dragon in Hogwarts Legacy? Here is all you need to know.
Can you capture a dragon in Hogwarts Legacy?
In this game, you come across dragons and even dragon eggs. And while it would be incredibly cool to nurture and hatch a dragon egg, or even own one to fly you around Hogwarts, you cannot capture or fly a dragon in Hogwarts Legacy.
Perhaps developers have plans for a potential sequel where players can capture and fly dragons, but this is merely speculation, as nothing has been made official. There are many other fascinating magical creatures in the game, such as Phoenix, Graphorn, Thestral, Hippogriffs, Puffskeins, that you can get to know besides dragons.
You can find many of these creatures scattered across the map, and you can rescue and nurture them at the Vivarium. As for dragons, you will encounter one in a particular quest, which appears in different cutscenes. To find the dragon, however, you have to progress through the Poppy Sweeting questline.
There are lots of interesting characters and NPCs to meet in Hogwarts Legacy, and Poppy Sweeting is one of them. She should have multiple quests for you to take up, a lot of them involving dealing with magical creatures. Your first encounter with a dragon will be at Horntail Hall during the “Fire and Vice” quest, where you need to free the dragon to complete the quest.
Then your next task is to find a dragon egg and return it to the mother dragon. That is the closest you come to a dragon in Hogwarts Legacy: when you have to visit a dragon nest to return the egg at the end of the “Poached Egg” quest.
