Can You Change Houses in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a role-playing video game developed and published by Jam City under license from Portkey Games. The game is set in the Wizarding World and is based on the Harry Potter novels written by J.K. Rowling.

The game was released for Android and iOS on April 25, 2018. Players praised its free-roam settings throughout Hogwarts with an underlying original plot looming in the background. There are a lot of entertaining features added in between the main story to make the game more engaging for players.

Since the game entirely focuses on Hogwarts and life in and around Hogwarts, one necessary feature was that of Hogwarts Houses.

Hogwarts Houses

As any player who is a fan of the Harry Potter series would know, Hogwarts has four different houses:

  • Gryffindor
  • Hufflepuff
  • Ravenclaw
  • Slytherin

Before students can start their academic life, they are sorted into one of these four houses depending on their personality types. In Hogwarts Mystery, the choice is a little easier because the game gives players the freedom to choose their own house.

Each house is historically known for housing its own kinds of similar students, but what if players chose the wrong house and wanted to change it in-game?

Changing Hogwarts Houses?

So, getting to the main question at hand, is it possible to change houses in the game? Unfortunately, the short answer is no. Due to the game giving the player the freedom to choose their own house at the beginning, they will have to make a permanent choice of where they want to end up for the rest of the game. This part sticks true to the series as well.

Fret not however, because there are no noticeable advantages to joining any house. Most of it is dependent on the player’s aesthetic and design choice and whatever house they liked the most before playing the game.
