Can You Use Smoke Bombs in the Water in Pokemon Legends Arceus? – Answered

Smoke Bombs are a great item to use in order to sneak up to Pokemon to catch them. Smoke Bombs can be used by throwing them down, activating them and producing clouds of smoke. These smoky clouds give a good cover of fine powder to hide in and stop any wild Pokemon from seeing you and fleeing or attacking. They are really useful on land, but can they also be used in the water to help players catch water-type Pokemon? Find out below!

Finding and Using Smoke Bombs in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Smoke Bombs can be found, purchased, or crafted. They can be found by destroying boxes or treasure chests at Cobalt Coastlands and Coronet Highlands, or in the area east of Sacred Plaza. This is especially useful if you do not have the materials needed to craft them yourself.

To craft Smoke Bombs, you will need Sootfoot Root and Caster Fern (1 of each per Smoke Bomb). The recipe for Smoke Bombs can be unlocked at Jubilife Village after completing the Frenzy of the Lord of the Woods mission.

5 Smoke Bombs are also given to players as a reward for completing the Fragrance of the Nostalgic Herbs request (no.37).

Players can purchase Smoke Bombs for 400 (and sell them for 100) from Base Camp, and from the General Store after completing a request set by Choy at the General Store.

Smoke Bombs can be used in water to catch water-type Pokemon, but can be trickier to use than on land. If they are not thrown just right, they can just splash right into the water. They work better when the player is riding aboard a Basculegion.

Stealth Spray is also recommended. Despite its effect being reduced in the water, it does still have some effect and can help a little. The trick to catching these water-type is a whole lot of smoke bombs and a ton of perseverance!

Good luck!
