From today, Shin Megami Tensei is now available for purchase in the App Store. This release is actually the first official English release of the game, as all the others have stayed in Japan.

Being the first game of the series, its gameplay mechanics are somewhat archaic when compared to the latest entries of the series and several spin-off titles like the Persona and Devil Survivor games.

Shin Megam Tensei is set in Tokyo during the 90s. The city has been invaded by demons from another world. The only thing that separates the playable character from death is a handy computer program which allows humans to converse with demons. Thanks to the conversation options, gamers will be able to even get them to join your party.

Obtained demons can also be fused together to create more powerful ones. Which are an absolute necessity, since the game’s quite difficult. The fact that most of its gameplay systems are never fully explained makes matters worse. Still, if you’re looking for a though rpg that doesn’t hold your hand in any way, Shin Megami Tensei is definitely the right game for you.

Shin Megami Tensei is now available on the App Store.
