Diablo 4 Bone Spear Necromancer Build

Get the best Bone Spear Necromancer build in Diablo 4 with this straightforward guide.

Even though my main build in Diablo 4 is the lightning-focused Sorcerer, I couldn’t resist playing around with a Necromancer as my secondary character. As always in games like this, looking at that skill tree is a sweet torment because the options are many, but the skill points are few. If you want the best possible build that will render you technically invincible as you chase after Lilith through the depths of Sanctuary, you will have to make some tough choices.

As you get your first skill points, you will have to determine what to base your Necro build on—Blood, Darkness, or Bone. While the mix-and-match style is possible, I wouldn’t recommend it because you can easily miss out on some great upgrades and OP endgame builds if you put your fingers in too many pies. Therefore, in this guide, we bring you the best Bone Spear Necromancer build that can take you easily all the way to endgame content.

While you’ll have to wait a bit to get the Bone Spear skill (since it’s a Core skill), you will want to start with the same base. Therefore, choose Bone Splinters as your Basic skill, and you can upgrade it with Enhanced Bone Splinters with your second skill point to get the chance to fire more projectiles based on your Essence.

As soon as you get the chance, take Bone Spear as your Core skill. While it is a great idea to bring Bone Spear to level 5, I advise opting for Enhanced and Paranormal Bone Spear as well for more bone shards and better Critical Strike Chance.

Another essential thing that you should do at this stage is to increase your Essence with Unliving Energy—it’s worth investing three points in it. You can also go for Imperfectly Balanced to increase your damage early on, but keep in mind that this will increase the Essence costs of your Bone Spear skill as well. I would also at least unlock Hewed Flesh at this point as it increases your chances to create a Corpse, which will prove to be quite useful when you start investing your points into Corpse Explosion.

The Best Diablo 4 Bone Spear Necromancer Build for Mid-Game (Level 20-40)

The Corpse & Macabre Skills segment of the Necromancer skill tree is where you want to stick for a while as you cross into mid-game. While you should maximize Corpse Explosion and go for Enhanced and Blighted improvements for this skill, you should also invest in Grim Harvest to increase your Essence generation and Fueled by Death to help with the damage. I also opted for Skeletal Warrior Mastery since they are my minions of choice. You can also go for Blood Mist to supplement your defenses, but I wouldn’t spend too many points on this ability.

As you can see, for this build, you can spend most of your mid-game in this section of the skill tree because it just offers too many great passives. Still, if you can, it is advisable to unlock and maximize Death’s Embrace as well for increased damage and better protection from nearby enemies.

The Best Diablo 4 Bone Spear Necromancer Build for Endgame (Level 40-50)

As you cross the level-40 threshold, you should stack up on all the Bone passives around the Summoning Skills node. I maximized all of them, including Serration for better Critical Strike Chance, Compound Fracture and Evulsion for increased damage, and Rapid Ossification for increased cooldowns on Bone skills.

I also invested a few points into Corpse Tendrils for Stun and some more damage. However, the best passive comes at the end, where the most logical choice for this build is Ossified Essence which gives your Bone skills increased damage based on the amount of Essence you have (must be above 50).

And that concludes this Bone Spear Necromancer build that should help you sail through the main campaign and side content before you unlock the Paragon Board at level 50. Of course, you can experiment and tweak this build some more to match your playing style better.
