Alongside the Pokemon regularly available in the main campaign are two special Pokemon, Shaymin and Darkrai, that can only be caught before watching the ending by completing requests unlocked by having save data from Pokemon Sword and Shield and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl respectively.

Is catching both Shaymin and Darkrai needed to complete the Pokedex in Pokemon Legends: Arceus? Let’s find out.

Do Shaymin and Darkrai Count Towards Pokedex Completion in Pokemon Legends Arceus?

As both Pokemon can only be caught during the main story by having save data from other games, Shaymin and Darkrai do not count towards Pokedex completion in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Which makes quite a lot of sense, considering it wouldn’t be fair to force players to purchase other games just to complete the new one.

Even if you do not have Pokemon Sword and Shield and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl save data, you are still able to get these two Pokemon in the post-game, so you will not be locked out of content.
