Shiny Pokemon! They’re Pokemon but… with different colors. They’re very rare and often cool-looking, which is why there is an entire section of Pokemon gamers — called Shiny Hunters — that are dedicated to collecting as many shinies as they can!
Catching Shiny Pokemon is no easy feat, however. Like we mentioned, they are very rare. So rare in fact, that every time you encounter a Pokemon, the base odds for it to be shiny are 1/4096! This means that, theoretically, you will come across 1 shiny Pokemon for every 4096 Pokemon encounters you have.
Do you Need the National Dex to Get the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shiny Pearl?
A lot of people have been wondering about the requirements to get the Shiny Charm, like does it need you to have the National Dex in your possession?
What you do need to do to get the Shiny Charm, is to catch all 149 Pokemon in the Sinnoh Regional Dex. Yep, you not only need to see all the Pokemon, but actually catch them!
What this means, is that you don’t need the National Dex to get the Shiny Charm. But it is pretty likely that you will have the National Dex with you before getting the Shiny Charm anyways.
This is because in order to get the National Dex, you only need to see all 149 Pokemon in the Sinnoh Regional Dex. This will obviously get done before you catch all 149 Pokemon for the Shiny Charm, so it only makes sense that you go fetch the National Dex from Professor Oak before getting the Shiny Charm.
