The biggest addition of the new update is 60 FPS support, which allows both games to run at almost double the frame rate of the original releases. This is huge, as the two games are high-speed FPS that benefit greatly from a higher frame rate.

60 FPS Support: For the first time, DOOM and DOOM II now run at 60 FPS on all platforms, instead of 35 FPS as in the original releases.

The update also introduces support for additional content, that will be released on a steady basis. The new content is a mixture of additional content created for both DOOM and DOOM II.

Add-on Support: Add-ons can now be downloaded and played from the main menu. We will continue to add content that is a mixture of official DOOM and DOOM 2 add-ons, as well as some of the best community episodes and megawads released for the original DOOM games.

We’ve curated the initial list and will be asking you guys for your picks for best community made wads soon!

The new update also introduces performance improvements, Weapon Carousel and Quick Weapon Select and more. You can find the full update notes by going here.

DOOM and DOOM II are now available on Nintendo Switch as well as on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
