Dragalia Lost: Best Characters in the Game

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

With so many characters to choose from in Dragalia Lost, selecting a list of the best of the best is pretty difficult. But we’re trying to do this in order to help you learn which are, in our opinion, the best characters in the game.

You probably know by now that each character has their own strengths and weaknesses – and most importantly does well in certain situations, and not so good in others. Therefore, there is no inherently perfect character in Draglia Lost, which makes everything a lot more interesting and challenging.

There are great characters for most situations, as well as great heroes in specific situations – and then rarity comes into play. Yes, there are a ton of things to consider when deciding which are the best adventurers in Nintendo’s latest title, and we’re trying to create this list with all players in mind: those who are already pretty much advanced and have unlocked most heroes, but also those who have recently started playing the game and have fewer options available.

Still, most players probably won’t have unlocked all the characters listed below (if you did – lucky you!) so you will have to select and adjust your strategy based on what you’ve got. And keep the names in mind in case you unlock them eventually.

So without further ado, here are the best characters in Dragalia Lost:

Best 4 star characters

Luther

A support character with good overall stats, Luther’s main strength is his first ability, Flurry Devastation. This increases Critical Rate chance by up to 10%. Combine that with his Co-ability that increases Critical Chance for the entire team and you have a really solid support hero here.

Orsem

Another very similar support character. I would recommend using one either him or Luther since they are basically the same. Orsem is slightly better in my opinion since his skills charge up a bit faster, but overall he does the same thing as Luther.

Karina

It’s not just the looks that make her one of my favorites, but also her skills and abilities! She is, in my opinion, one of the best 4-star characters in Dragalia Lost as she is focused on delivering massive damage to her opponents. She’s also a great support character with Tank abilities thanks to her HP regen and defense increase. Make sure to add a high quality defense Wyrmprint to further improve this great hero!

Eleonora

Another great 4-star hero lady to have in your team! This one is great because she helps her entire team fill up their skill meter, therefore having everybody perform skills faster. She’s also good against bosses thanks to her DoT numbers.

Best 5 star characters

Of course, the 5-star characters are the best in the game and they are extremely useful. I would consider any 5-star character better than any 4-star character – with the only exceptions being listed above. But still, if you have enough 5 star heroes to mix and match, you’re probably better using only these in your team.

Hildegarde

The best healer / support unit in the game, in my opinion. She’s not that good at dealing damage and destroying stuff, but she greatly helps your team members stay alive for longer and perform better. Her main skill is a HP restoring one – and you should always have such a unit in the team, while her skill prep ability is a joy to have since it basically allows all your characters to start with a full skill gauge (or 75% full if not upgraded).

Xander

Now we’re switching to a massive damage dealer who gets better and better as time goes by and buffs/enemies defeated numbers increase. He makes me think about Xander Cage – Vin Diesel’s character in the Hollywood movies – as they’re all really tough.

Dragalia Lost’s Xander is a massive damage dealer, taking out groups of enemies and individuals like there’s no tomorrow. Plus, his co-op ability is Dragon Haste +8%, which benefits dragons and the whole team. Can’t beat that!

Maribelle

Despite her looking so cute and innocent, she’s also a great damage dealer in the game, with important boosts in certain situations. Pair her up with Hildegarde and keep her healthy and you’ll wreak havoc through the enemy teams without a problem. Plus, she buffs her entire’s team attack skills which makes her an instant winner!

Ezelith

Another character that charms you with her looks first, before completely impressing you with her skills and damage dealer. She’s also great with specific support skills, increasing the Critical damage of the entire team and dealing massive damage herself – which is easily stackable too. Great overall character and damage dealer in all situations!

Julietta

Last but not least, we have this defensive-focused character on our list of the best heroes in Dragalia Lost. Without going overly defensive not to matter too much in attack (like Hildegard, for example), she has buffs and debuffs to help her team in all battles. A good girl for sure!

These would be the best characters in the game, in our opinion. And if you need more opinions and articles to help you get better at the game, don’t hesitate to check out our previously published guides and articles:
