Having lost Dodoria and Zarbon alongside many nameless henchmen during the Frieza Saga in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the Galactic Emperor stopped playing around, summoning his elite Ginyu Force to take down Vegeta and the Earthlings that have come to Namek to use the Dragon Balls.
While defeating Guldo is relatively simple, things do get more complicated as you take on the other members of the Force. Here’s everything you need to know to take down Recoome without too many issues.
How to Defeat Recoome in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot
You will fight Recoome two times during the Saiyan Saga. The first time you will be playing as Vegeta with Gohan and Krillin as support, the second time as Goku. Recoome’s moveset, however, doesn’t change between the two fights, so you can use the same strategy in both fights.
Before you even start the fight, you need to make sure to be well-stocked with restorative items, as you do not get the chance to heal outside battle for a while after engaging Recoome. After you have purchased enough Vitadrinks, you can take on the second member of the Ginyu Force that bars your way.
Recoome usually fights from a distance using his Eraser Gun attack. He takes some time to charge it, however, so it is easy to dodge if you keep an eye on the red marker. Sometimes, Recoom will start spinning once he fires the beam, so make sure to move to avoid getting damaged. If he is static, you can use this chance to fire off one of your ranged attacks like Galick Gun or Kamehameha.
Recoome will also try to fight you from close range with the Recoome Kick. He starts unleashing this attack from a distance, but you should wait to dodge at the very last second, as there is a very short delay from when he gets close to you and when he starts attacking. Guarding is the safest option.
Pretty often during the second fight, but also during the first, Recoome will use the Grenade Bomber attack. The perspective will change to a top-down one, and you will have to move quickly to avoid the attack. Guarding also works here, although you risk getting your guard stance broken if you receive too many hits.
Avoid all these attacks as much as possible, retaliate with short combo strings and Recoome will soon join Guldo. Two down, three to go!
