As you have probably seen by now, we have posted an article to help you choose the best starting class, and if you didn’t check it yet, then go right ahead and do so!

Basically, what you need to know here, is that once you level up your skills, you can also obtain certain careers, and get even more bonuses when doing so.

Durango: Wild Lands – What are careers?

The careers are basically certain milestones that you obtain when you level up in the skills section and allocate skill points a certain way.

For example, if you want to level up your Gathering -> The Principles of Horticulture, you need to have the following:

– Fiber I
– Wild Seed I
– Herbalism III
– Mud II
– Boulder
– Harvesting I
– Wooden Shovel

All of these skills can be found under Skills -> Gathering and in the sections there, you will find that they can be acquired once you reach Gathering level 20.

At Gathering level 20 you will obtain all of them, so if you don’t have it yet, go right ahead and do it because it is one of the easiest skills to rank up quickly in game and therefore one of the easiest Careers to unlock.

Basically, all Careers in Durango are tied to the Skills that you have and help keep you organized in terms of skill point allocation. You can’t really rush things out as they all depend on your skill level, but they’re useful if you want to get a specific career.

Now that we briefed you on what a career is basically, you can open the Career Guide under the Skill menu and take a look at how you are doing. The currently available careers can be seen there, and  you can also see your progress %.

Durango: Wild Lands – How to gain career EXP?

The career experience needed to open up the next task will become available as you level up certain skills. As careers go hand in hand with you leveling up your skills, you will have to do whatever you can to level up those skills.

From farming, to gathering and fighting, go ahead and focus on doing everything as much as you can.

If you want to gain career points in Combat, then you need to level up your Melee and Defense. These skills will both count towards the Combat career, so you need to constantly keep attacking dinosaurs and use the defensive skills to parry / roll (to increase Defense EXP).

Oh, you can also obtain Combat career points from Butchering animals, and collecting their meat, bones and leather. Just look at the requirements and do more of what’s needed.

If you want to gain career points in Weapon Crafting, you will have to focus on Weapon / Tool and Ranged, because these will increase the points you get in Weapon Crafting. Your EXP will increase here by simply crafting tools – in order to craft more tools, you need to gather materials, so you might see a pattern here.

If you want to gain career points in Tailoring, all you have to do is keep crafting clothes and bags, and increase your Tailoring and Processing. These skills will give you all the EXP you need.

Early on, just focus on gathering leaves, fowers and leather and start crafting everything that you can which will add Tailoring points. Processing will come super easy, so focus mainly on Tailoring.

If you want to gain career points in Cooking, all you need to do is keep on making those skewers and smoked stuff until you reach Cooking level 15, and from there on you can make medicine and many other useful items.

To increase your Cooking career, you will need Cooking, Weapon / Tool and Construction, so it will take a bit to be able to make everything that you might want – but don’t worry, you will get it!

If you want to gain career points in Living Quarters, then all you need is Construction and Processing. This will let you craft all the useful day to day items us modern humans use, from ovens to chairs and so on. Focus on increasing your Construction level, because Processing will come pretty easy afterwards.

If you want to gain career points in Gathering, it can be easier than you think. This will probably be one of your first completed careers, because all you need to do is gather and increase the level.

Since you can gather from almost everywhere, it will be pretty easy. Also, along with Gathering, you will need Weapon / Tool, because some items require you to have knives or hammers or other tools to help in gathering.

If you wan to gain career points in Farming, it might take a bit if you haven’t made your first character a farmer, but it’s nonetheless possible! Just gather up tons of mud whenever you see, and go to your tame island to create Till Small Fields.

Farming career requires Farming and Weapon / Tool, but the Farming is the more difficult part, as the Weapon / Tool will be acquired pretty easily in the process.

Durango: Wild Lands – What do you obtain from completing a career?

The rewards from completing a career will often show up as “Career Guide Complete” and it will give you a special title as a reward. The titles you receive from completing the careers give certain stats, such as Strength +5, Endurance +5 and Max Health +40 (from Basic Hunting Tactics).

So we can say that these careers don’t only guide you through properly investing your skill points to benefit your character the most, but they also offer additional bonuses and can help you specialize even further.

Durango: Wild Lands – How do you set up your title?

If you want to set up a title after completing one career or another, then it’s really simple! Open the menu and tap on the very first option, Character.

There, select Character again and above your current equipment you can see an option where you can set up your title.

It’s pretty easy, right? Now for the titles available, always think about using the title which will benefit you the most.

So if you are fighting a lot, then use a title which gives you Strength, Max Health and other combat useful skills. If you are going gathering, use a title which gives you dexterity and gathering ability increases.

Overall, just think about the bigger picture! A title is not set in stone, and you can change it at any time during the game at no extra cost, so make sure to keep them in mind at all times and adapt based on what your current activity is.

Also, if you have an all-time favorite title, you can tap on the little grey star next to the title to turn it into a yellow one, and add that certain title to your favorites (helps you find it easier when you have a lot).

This will conclude our Durango: Wild Lands careers guide! What is your favorite in game activity? Let us know down in the comments below and also don’t forget to take a look at our game guides collection right here, to help you with any questions you might have in game!
