Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires Difficulty Settings Explained

Despite coming with plenty of strategy game elements that make the experience considerably deeper than your typical hack and slash game, Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is still an action game at heart. As such, being good at this type of game is important to win the many battles you will have to fight in the game’s story scenarios and ultimately make China a single, powerful kingdom.

Thankfully, you do not need to be an action games master to succeed in Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, thanks to the game’s different difficulty settings. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires Difficulty Settings Explained

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires features five different difficulty settings that determine how difficult a Conquest Mode scenario will be. They are Beginner, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Chaos. These settings only determine the difficulty of battles, so the strategy phases will not be affected in any way.

If you’re a complete newcomer to the Dynasty Warriors series as a whole, Beginner is the option to pick. At this difficulty, both regular enemies and officers don’t hit hard at all, giving you the time and space needed to learn the game’s combat mechanics without getting overwhelmed. Once you have a better understanding of them and want the enemies to fight back more, you should pick either Easy or Normal. They are a step up from Beginner, but not such a huge one that will make the game feel frustrating.

Hard and Chaos, on the other hand, are difficulty settings that only Dynasty Warriors veterans should pick. Enemies hit much harder, and have way more health, so they will be a danger not only for you but also for your fellow officers, essentially forcing you to keep attention to what is going on on the battlefield and intervene to protect your allies and the bases you have conquered. You will also have to be more mindful of who you pick a fight with, as defeat is always behind the corner, even if the armies involved in the battle are of equal strength, so don’t expect to be able to go straight for the enemy commander like it is possible at Normal and below.
