The singer-songwriter known to dominate music charts worldwide has apparently announced that… he’s making an appearance through Pokemon GO?!
Recently, Ed Sheeran teased through his Twitter account that he would be collaborating with Niantic and The Pokemon Company’s augmented reality mobile game smash hit, as he shared an image on Twitter with the hashtag “PokemonGOxEdSheeran.”
Pokemon GO has made it a point to team up with various other brands in the past, without a doubt. The game has had a few sponsors here and there to appear in the game, to feature merchandise or branded clothing.
This, however, is a first for Pokemon GO: to feature a megastar pop icon in their game, in ways which we still haven’t discerned yet. This is even more jarring since any past collaborations have not been based around music.
When we think about it, there are a few possibilities of what this collaboration could be and NOT be about. It certainly won’t be anything related to a virtual concert, as Pokemon GO doesn’t have the ability to host one.
Perhaps Ed will be available as a limited-time Pokemon to catch? Maybe he’ll be in-game with a Pikachu mask on? The possibilities are truly endless (and silly).
Ed Sheeran has made a few appearances on film and TV, like on Game of Thrones and Rise of Skywalker. Those were, however, acting roles (which were… a little disturbing, if we do say so ourselves).
But other than a basic hint provided by Ed Sheeran and The Pokemon Company, this is the most that we know for now. We will make sure to get you any future updates.
