Being one of the activities in the game, you get introduced to bug catching during the early hours, giving you access to the Critter Net. 

However, as you progress through, to catch some of the unique Critters in the game, you must upgrade your Critter Net.

In Fae Farm, you can upgrade your Net, aka Critter Net, at Mel’s shop. To find her, make your way to the main town, near the West Town fast travel point. Once you are there, talk to Mel and purchase the Critter Net upgrade using Gold Florins.
