Fallout Shelter Update 1.6 Brings New Quest System, Improved Combat Mechanics

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

It seemed like a long wait since the previous Fallout Shelter update, but it doesn’t matter now as Bethesda has announced that there’s a new game version available and it brings some nice goodies: Fallout Shelter update 1.6 has just been released, bringing in new quest mechanics with a new combat system, as well as two new premium items to rush things up a little bit.

It’s also worth noting that starting today, Fallout Shelter is also available as a free download on PC and you can get it here in case you want to play even more of it on your laptop or computer, while you should be working.

Back to today’s update, the developers present it as the biggest update since the game’s launch. Players now have more substantive Quests to conquer and can take control of their Dwellers while they travel to abandoned buildings and decrepit Vaults, as well as locations familiar to Fallout 4 fans like the Red Rocket Fuel Stop and the Super Duper Mart. Players can assemble a group of Dwellers to take on challenges outside of the Vault, uncover legendary loot, and face off against new enemies like Radscorpions, Ghouls and powerful bosses.

Even more impressive is the new combat system that allows players to take control of the Dwellers during a quest and help improve their chances of winning a fight by directing attacks to a specific target, or even play a mini game to get a critical hit done. In other words, it’s all more fun for us all!

There are two new premium items available in the game: the Starter Pack that helps you speed up a new Vault and the Nuka Cola Quantum that helps you speed up your Dwellers and certain tasks. But you can, of course, still enjoy the game for free as you did until today.

It’s nice to see that Bethesda still focuses on the game an year after its launch and even brings it to PC for a larger user base. Probably there is not much room for the game to grow anymore, but it’s still a fun experience. And if you’re just starting to play, make sure you check out our tips and tricks for beginners.
