On top of this, 2FA is required for participation in Fortnite competitive events such as the Fortnite World Cup. Using the Two-Factor Authentication feature, players would be able to secure their accounts with an extra layer of security.

So if your Fortnite credentials are compromised, there’s no need to worry, as the game will ask for a specific code after sign-in that will be delivered to your registered E-Mail.

Therefore, it’s highly suggested that everyone enable the two-factor authentication for their Epic Games accounts to keep their purchases and other data safe. By the end of this guide, you’ll learn how to enable 2FA for your Fortnite account.

Activating the two-factor authentication is relatively easy and can be done by following these steps:

  1. Go to the ACCOUNT page.
  2. Click the PASSWORD & SECURITY tab.
  3. Under the ‘TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION’ header, click the 2FA option you want to enable:
    • THIRD-PARTY AUTHENTICATOR APP: Use an Authenticator App as your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). When you sign in you’ll be required to use the security code provided by your Authenticator App.
    • SMS AUTHENTICATION: Use your phone as your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) when you sign in you’ll be required to use the security code we send you via SMS message.
    • ENABLE EMAIL AUTHENTICATION: Use a security code sent to your email address as your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). The security code will be sent to the address associated with your account. You’ll need to use it in when you sign in.
If you opt to use an authenticator app for 2FA, these common authenticator apps can be found in your mobile device app store:
    • Google Authenticator
    • LastPass Authenticator
    • Microsoft Authenticator
    • Authy
  4. Verify that 2FA is enabled

From here, you’ll be redirected back to your account page, where you’ll see a success banner verifying that 2FA is active and your e-mail is verified. Now you have double secured your game account from hackers even if they have your login ID and password.

If at any moment you lose access to the registered e-mail address, you can raise a ticket to player support to get it sorted.
