Fortnite Chapter 3 has brought new mechanics, fun features, and some old favorites, too. Players can currently get around the map on foot, via rifts that can be found dotted around certain points, on a variety of vehicles, or be carried down the river on a floating pine! These Timber Pines may look at first like ordinary trees, but once you chop them down, you will find they act pretty differently from other trees.
Usually, you’d harvest a tree for its wood by hacking at it with your harvesting tool, and eventually, it would disappear. Timber Pines are hit 4 times (if you don’t hit the weak points) and then they split and the tree rolls away. If you are near a river, it floats along with the current and can carry you with it. Be warned though—going with the current is pretty slow. It’s not the most efficient way to travel, but still fun.
Timber Pine Locations
The Timber Pines can be found along the northwest area of the map from Shifty Shafts to Camp Cuddle.
The best place to find Timber Pines if you have a challenge to complete is near Logjam Lumberyard. The trees are all around this area and can be recognized by their pale bark and slightly more blue tint to the green foliage.
Chopping down a Timber Pine is pretty fun—it takes 4 regular hits, then splits into a point and rolls away.
If you hit it with your pickaxe again, it moves away, so you could move it to an area of water to use it as a raft.
The best place to find a Timber Pine to float on is either between Logjam Lumberyard and Shifty Shafts, or near Camp Cuddle.
Good luck and happy harvesting!
