Free games are always a great thing, especially when they actually are decent titles. This is even more true on mobile platforms, when gamers usually jump from one game to another in a very small amount of time.
One of the latest free games to get released on the App Store is Droid Arcade, an interesting new take on the same gameplay experience included in Droidscape: Basilica.
Both games share the basic gameplay premise, as you will have to lead the little droid Bishop 7 throught the Basilica space station, avoiding bad guys and save the last of the Chronomancer.
In Droid Arcade the experience is made more engaging by the fact that you will be telling Bishop 7 where to directly, instead of drawing a path for it to follow. This new control method makes the game lose a bit of its puzzle game elements in favor of a more fast paced experience. Some of the original game’s elements are still in, like the energy system, so you will have to keep on your toes at all times.
The release of Droid Arcade is an interesing experiment, showing how the same basic gameplay experience can be twisted in order to offer something slightly different. Make sure to try out the game if you have enjoyed the original Droidscape, you may be positively surprised in seeing how fast paced the whole game has become.
Droid Arcade is now available for download for free on the App Store.
