Genshin Impact 3.2’s second half introduces Layla, another sleep-deprived Cryo character. Layla is a sword-wielding character who excels at creating shields. Her entire kit, including talents and constellations, is focused on improving her shielding capabilities. This guide will share the best build for Layla in Genshin Impact.
How to Build Layla in Genshin Impact
Layla’s elemental skill, Nights of Formal Focus, creates a shield based on her max HP, like Zhongli and Diona. It goes without saying that players should focus on stacking as much HP as possible on Layla. Like elemental skill, her elemental burst, Dream of the Star-Stream Shaker, also scales off max HP.
To get the most out of Layla, players will have to level her to 90 and use HP% artifacts on her. Layla can effortlessly become a decent shielder and might be a good Cryo DPS with more investment. Let’s look at the best artifacts and weapons for Layla in Genshin Impact.
Best Artifacts for Layla
For building a shielder Layla, the 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith, seems to be her best set. The 2-piece effect gives a 20% HP while the 4-piece effect increases shield strength and the party’s ATK%. Though it is hard to trigger the 4-piece effect with Layla, this set is still best for Layla’s shield.
If players don’t have a 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith set, they can use 2-piece Tenacity of the Millelith with 2-piece of either Blizzard Strayer or Noblesse Oblige. Blizzard Strayer and Noblesse Oblige set will boost Layla’s personal damage.
As for artifact’s main stats, players are recommended to go for HP% on Sands, Goblet, and Circlet. Players who want her to deal damage can build her with Cryo DMG Bonus Goblet and Crit Rate/DMG Circlet. It is still better to stack HP% on her as her shielding potential is better than her damage potential.
Best Weapons for Layla
Unfortunately, there are no swords with HP% secondary stat in Genshin Impact, except the limited 5-star Key of Khaj-Nisut. Players who have Key of Khaj-Nisut can give this weapon to Layla. These other swords are also quite good on Layla:
- Primordial Jade Cutter – provides a ton of Crit Rate and some HP% from its passive
- Favonius Sword – Helps with the team’s overall energy requirement but needs Crit Rate
- Any sword with Energy Recharge if Favonius Sword is unavailable
Hopefully, HoyoVerse will soon add a 4-star or 3-star HP scaling sword to Genshin Impact. Until then, Layla is going to have limited weapon options. Nevertheless, Layla is still a decent shield character and is recommended for players without Zhongli or Thoma.
