Following the massive update released in Version 2.0, Genshin Impact’s Inazuma main storyline—involving the Raiden Shogun, Traveler, Sangonomiya resistance, Fatui, and several other factions—now comes to an end with the final chapter of Inazuma’s Archon Quest “Chapter II, Act III: Omnipresence Over Mortals,” released with the Version 2.1 update.

And with that, the Genshin Impact community is now looking forward to the release of the next region, Sumeru, mentioned by Yae at the end of the Archon Quest.
When will Sumeru come out?
Sumeru is the fourth region in Genshin Impact and is where the Dendro Archon resides. At the end of Chapter II, Act III: Omnipresence Over Mortals, Yae Miko mentions Sumeru and one of their gods who goes by the name Lesser God Kusanali—probably the Dendro Archon, if not some other important figure.
At the time of writing this article, there is no official news on when the Sumeru region will come out.
However, since we already know that Sumeru is the Traveler’s next stop, let us check which areas are released and which are left to come out before Sumeru.
- Genshin Impact 1.2 – We got Dragonspine.
- Genshin Impact 1.6 – We got Golden Apple Archipelago.
- Genshin Impact 1.7 or 2.0 – We got three Islands of Inazuma, namely Narukami, Kannazuka and Yashiori.
- Genshin Impact 2.1 – We got two more Islands of Inazuma, namely Watatsumi and Seirai.
- Genshin Impact 2.2 – We will get the last Island of Inazuma, Tsurumi.
- The Chasm
- Sumeru?
This is just speculation based on past leaks, but if you remember, we had data-mined information that suggested Baizhu is going to play a major role in the quest attached to the Chasm area.

While that information is long forgotten, we can use it to suggest that the Chasm is going to release before Sumeru.
If this theory is anywhere near true, players can expect the Sumeru region to come out with the Genshin Impact 3.0 update. Meanwhile, Genshin Impact 2.3 update and beyond will be filler updates based around festivals, the Chasm, and other similar content.
Releasing the Sumeru region with Genshin Impact 3.0 update aligns with past regions and their release versions.
- Genshin Impact 1.0 – We got Mondstadt and Liyue [Available at launch]
- Genshin Impact 2.0 – Inazuma [Third region]
With that all being said, we will conclude this article with our speculation that Sumeru will release somewhere around Summer 2022.
