Guardian Tales Stage 8-3 Guide: 3 Stars, All Treasure

World 8 of Guardian Tales is the appropriately named Mt. Shivering, a mountain range that is covered in deep blankets of snow. It is here where players come across a quaint little Innuit Village with friendly residents. You’ll find lots of people to talk to and puzzles to solve here, and this stage is infamous for having hard-to-find treasure and Star Pieces. Today, we’ll go over the stage and show you how to collect everything in our Guardian Tales stage 8-3 guide on getting 3 stars and all treasure!

Stage 8-3 All Star Pieces

Star Piece 1 is located near the southwest area of the map. The Star Piece is hidden behind a block next to an ice puzzle. Upon running on the ice, you’ll slide all the way across until you hit a wall. There’s a red button with a small block to the left — you’ll need to slide across the ice to get behind the block to push it onto the red button. The block guarding the Star Piece will drop.

Star Piece 2 is located near the northeast area of the map, near the area where Chris the Chipmunk is trapped behind solid cubes of ice. Head east of Chris, and you’ll reach a chasm with a bunch of posts you can grapple hook to. Simply work your way across the gaps using your grappling hook, and you’ll get to the Star Piece.

Star Piece 3 requires you to free Chris from the ice and grab a lit torch. After he’s freed, grab the torch and move west to return to the Innuit Village entrance. Head west one more screen, and you’ll be in an icy area with a Star Piece behind an ice block.

This is puzzle is a little tricky, so strap in! Your goal is to hit the red buttons to light the torches. There are three torches, and all of them need to be lit for the ice block to come down. The torches stay lit for only a split second after you touch the red button, so you’ll need to move swiftly.

Firstly, you should see two torches towards the bottom of the screen when you first walk in. Place the lit torch you carried over on the red button on the left side to keep it pressed. Next, push the block on the right down, then slide down yourself. Move up, then to the left, and you’ll run over a red button and a green button. Immediately move back to the right and down, push the block down, and if you were fast enough you’ll have all three torches lit.

Star Piece 4 is located in the central village, where all the igloos are. Head inside the igloo on the southwest side of the village, and you’ll find the Star Piece within.

Star Piece 5 is located on the southern edge of the map. You’ll come across a big guard standing on ice with two lit torches around him. Head east from there and you’ll see a giant chest — keep going and head up into a chasm full of posts. Make your way across the chasm with your grappling hook, and you’ll see tesla coils with block nearby. Push the block up to disrupt the electricity flowing. Return to the big guard and you’ll find out one of his torches has gone out, and he’ll sneeze, blasting you away in the process. You’ll land right next to a Star Piece!

Star Piece 6 is located near the central village. This one is very easy to get — all you need to do is make White Beast your main hero, then head east from the village. You’ll find a pack of Guardian Wolves, and one of them will give you the sixth and final Star Piece of the stage.

Stage 8-3 All Treasure

Treasure 1 is located in the central village with all the igloos. The treasure chest is inside an igloo that doesn’t have an entrance — you’ll need to enter it from the underground tunnels. Enter the east most igloo, and head down into the tunnels to grab a lit torch. Hit the buttons and take the torch around to light the other unlit torches to bring down the walls. The southeast block leads up to the first treasure chest.

Treasure 2 is located on the southern edge of the map. It is the same Treasure Chest you passed by when you collected Star Piece 5. After you get blasted across the chasm thanks to the big guard’s sneeze, grappling hook up to the platform above you to get to the chest.

Treasure 3 is near Treasure 2. After grappling back to the main path, head east until you get to a fork in the road, with one path going up and one going down. Head down, and grapple across the chasm to get the third treasure.

Treasure 4 is located in the secret underground tunnels, which are different from the ones below the village. Head to where you had to push the block to disrupt the electricity between the tesla coils for Star Piece 5. Look to the left, and you should see a person standing on the edge. Grapple back and forth between the two platforms where the person is, and eventually one of the posts will break, causing you to fall down into the chasm.

You’ll wake up in a cave with two bomb plants and two cracked rocks. Bomb the cracked rock against the east wall, and head up and examine the thing on the wall that looks like a Nintendo Game Boy to get the fourth treasure.

Treasure 5 is right next to Treasure 4. After you examine the Game Boy, the rock wall will slide down, allowing you to go in and open the final treasure chest.

At this point, you’ll have all the treasures and Star Pieces in stage 8-3. The only thing needed to the final third star is to get all the Purple Coins, but you’ll complete that naturally as you get all the Star Pieces and treasures. You should have no trouble finding all of them if you collect everything else.
