With a newly-released reveal trailer from The Pokemon Company, the brand new Hisuian Voltorb has been officially revealed with exciting in-game footage that showcases the Pokemon’s design, gameplay and general behaviour.
The original Voltorb was released way back during Generation 1, whose design mimicked the iconic PokeBall. Hisuian Voltorb, in a similar fashion, mimicks the PokeBalls that are used during these ancients periods of the Pokemon world that the Hisui region exists in.
This Pokemon is filled with energy, possessing a glossy, spherical body. Other than energy, it is said that Hisuian Voltorbs pack countless seeds inside them, and shoot them out of the hole on the top of their body to attack enemies. It is, however, impossible to see what is inside the hole on its body, as the inside of it is pitch-black.
Hisuian Voltorb are very friendly, but also quite excitable, usually to its own detriment. Any provocation can set off deadly electrical discharges from it, and when in human settlements, it can prove to be quite the nuisance.
Hisuian Voltorb possess the Electric/Grass dual typing, in contrast to Kantonian Voltorb’s singular Electric typing. The Grass typing added to this variant of Voltorb is seemingly justified as they are modeled after the Hisuian PokeBalls, which are built from acorns.
The Electric/Grass typing is quite useful defensively, as both of the types cancel out each other’s weaknesses. The Grass type makes it so that it’s not weak to Ground type hits as it possesses the Electric type, and the Electric type cancels out it’s Grass typing’s Flying weakness.
Furthermore, the Grass type will offensively hit the Ground types for super-effective damage, that its Electric moves cannot touch, while the Electric type will super-effectively hit the flying types that its Grass moves won’t like hitting.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is slated for a global release on January 28, 2022, on the Nintendo Switch.
