Kagutsuchi isn’t just a simple story element in Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster, but a gameplay mechanic in its own right. The Kagutsuchi is like the moon and so comes with a lunar cycle that starts from New and ends with Full. Depending on the phase, some demons will behave differently.

Generally, demons are more docile during the New phase: they do not fight too hard and will often engage in conversation themselves, making it easier to recruit them.
