One of the best aspects of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is its numerous and meaningful side quests that enrich the already-deep open world. You will stumble into some of them while exploring the vast regions of The Continent, while others are available as contracts posted on the notice boards in different villages or towns that usually require you to slay a monster or two—you know, what witchers do for cash.
You will encounter one such contract in Midcopse in Velen, mentioning a terrifying specter haunting the fields nearby. After some investigation, you will uncover the sad backstory and unavoidably fight this mini-boss, which is easier said than done.
If you’re struggling to defeat her, this guide will explain how to find and beat Jenny o’ the Woods in The Witcher 3, so let’s dive in!
How to Find Jenny o’ the Woods in The Witcher 3
When you accept the contract, you’ll have to do some snooping around and use your witcher senses to find clues and tracks that eventually lead you to a grave and the letter written by a woman named Zula that explains the origins of the specter.
After you come back to the village, you will receive a new clue about where you may find Jenny o’ the Woods—it’s the area where unfortunate lovers used to meet. Prepare for the fight by enhancing your weapons and head to the marked area.
We advise you to kill the bandits camping near the area where you will encounter Jenny as they may prove to be a fatal distraction during your upcoming fight. Once you deal with them, return to the place marked on your map and burn Zula’s letter and the blood in the fire. You will have to wait/meditate until the sun goes down for Jenny to come out.
How to Beat Jenny o’ the Woods in The Witcher 3
When Jenny o’ the Woods finally appears, she proves to be a formidable opponent. Here are several tips that will help you beat her without dying over and over again.
Coat Your Silver Sword With Specter Oil
This step should be a part of your preparation for fighting Jenny o’ the Woods. If you manage to make superior Specter Oil beforehand, it will make this fight much easier as it gives +50% attack power when facing this enemy type. If you only have the basic or enhanced version, that is still great as they add +10% and +25% attack power against specters.
Use Yrden
Yrden can easily be your best friend in this fight. Keep Jenny in the sign effect area any way you can since your sword blows won’t do a lot of damage otherwise. Staying in the purple Yrden ring and fighting off her relentless attacks can be somewhat difficult, but a good combination of attacking and dodging should do the trick.
Also, when her much weaker duplicates spawn, try to eliminate them as soon as possible to prevent any further damage.
Switch to Moon Dust
If you’re struggling with keeping Jenny inside the Yrden effect area, you can use a Moon Dust bomb, which has a similar effect on wraiths. The best option is to upgrade Moon Dust bombs to the superior level so that the effect is permanent, but if you don’t have it, regular or enhanced bombs will do the job too—but only for 20 or 40 seconds respectively.
Use Quen and Swallow
Quen will protect Geralt from at least some damage. As always, the more upgraded the sign, the better the protection.
Also, make sure to equip the Swallow potion so you can recover from Jenny’s vicious attacks if things take a turn for the worse.
