Among the most powerful enemies you will meet on your journey in the Shadow Isles is Maokai. Here’s everything you need to know to defeat it with ease.

How to Beat Maokai in Ruined King: A League of Legends Story

Maokai is fought during The Shadow Isles main quest, and you will be able to choose between five different Champions for this fight. Every party composition can do good in this fight, but given how much damage the boss can deal to your characters, it is a good idea to bring Illaoi to the fight.

Maokai can be very annoying to deal with due to Root Shield, which reduces all damage by 80%, and Bramble Smash, which deals moderate damage by also adda a stack of Entangle, with reduces haste by 10%. The shield can be destroyed by using Speed and Power Lane abilities against the boss, while Entangle can only be debuffed by specific items and abilities. As such, you will want two characters to be only focused on attacking Maokai to prevent the battle from dragging too long, considering the boss also heals itself every three turns, and will summon minions to its side that can also debuff your Champions with stacks of Entangle. Illaoi should play double duty in this battle, acting as both a tank and a healer, as the boss’ Nature’s Grasp attack can deal heavy damage to a single Champion, and every other offense-focused Champion you can bring to this fight generally has low max health and will go down in a single hit if you are playing at a high difficulty.

Once you have found a good balance between offense and defense, stick with it until the end, and Maokai will finally be defeated.
