How to Build a Samurai Build for Elden Ring on Steam Deck

Elden Ring features a very interesting class system that allows players to select between different archetypes coming with different starting stats and gear. These classes, however, don’t limit the player in any way, letting them build their characters in any way they desire once they gain the ability to level up by using Runes shortly after the game begins.

Among the new classes available in Elden Ring is the Samurai class. Here’s how to make a couple of solid builds that are quite effective even during the late game.

The Samurai class is one of the new classes introduced in Elden Ring, and it is among the most versatile classes in the game, thanks to its initial stat distribution and starting gear.

The Samurai boasts high Endurance and Dexterity and decent Vigor and Strength, making it good at using a variety of weapons that scale with either Strength or Dexterity, or even both. This class comes equipped with an Uchigatana and a Longbow that give the Samurai excellent short-range and long-range fighting capabilities. The Uchigatana is also capable of Bleed buildup, meaning that a few hits will cause Bleed to an enemy, reducing its current HP considerably.

Bleed is among the strongest altered status effects in Elden Ring, and one that can be inflicted to most bosses, so you may want to make a Bleed build that can decimate most enemies with a high Arcane stat and select Ashes of War like Blood Slash or Seppuku for your Uchigatana. If you want to take things further, you can equip a second katana or a Wakizashi in your left hand to inflict Bleed even more quickly using the unique attacks that are unlocked when dual-wielding the same weapon type. Once you have made enough progress, you can potentially switch out your Blood Uchigatana with the Rivers of Blood katana, a powerful sword that comes with the unique Corpse Piler skill.

If a Bleed build doesn’t sound too good for you, you can build an even more devastating Samurai with the Moonveil Katana build. This sword scales with Dexterity and Intelligence, and it can use the incredibly powerful Transient Moonlight skill which lets you attack from afar and deal Magic damage to enemies. Both Horizontal Slash and Vertical Slash are extremely useful with great range, and they will help you get out from some very dangerous situations quite a bit. To make this build a little more balanced, you can equip the Uchigatana or Wakizashi in your left hand and change their attack attributes with Ashes of War so as to be able to deal different types of damage, in case you are facing enemies that are strong against Magic.
