Stardew Valley has grown significantly across all compatible platforms over the years which isn’t a surprise as it is easily one of the best farming simulator games you can play. As you start your journey in Pelican Town, you’ll have just about nothing and must build your dream farm with hard work.
You can grow your farm and build a fortune by mining, fishing, trading items, and of course, farming. And like many other farming simulator games, fishing is a crucial aspect of the game as well as being a good source of money. So in this article, we’ll be guiding you on how to catch a Squid in Stardew Valley.
How to Catch a Squid in Stardew Valley – Guide
The Squid is one of the hardest fishes to catch in Stardew Valley and is not always easy to find either. And when you do find it, reeling it in becomes a challenge.
So to catch one, you should, first of all, get a fishing rod. This item can be gotten in the early stages of the game as early as Spring 2 once you’ve completed the “To The Beach” quest. However, we suggest using the Fiberglass or Iridium Rod with bait and tackle when attempting to catch a Squid because as aforesaid, they’re not easy to catch.
Now, after you’ve secured yourself a fishing rod a reliable bait and tackle, you’ll need to wait for the right time and weather conditions before attempting to catch a Squid. And like many other fishes in the game, the Squid also has its specific time and season of availability.

You can catch the Squid from the Beach or Beach Farm whenever it’s winter. The Squid is available from 6 PM to 2 AM and unlike most fishes that are only available to catch when it’s raining, you can attempt to catch the Squid in any weather conditions.
As a sinker-type fish, the Squid often drifts to the bottom of the water before aggressively swimming back upwards. Regardless of its behavior, you shouldn’t have much of a problem catching a Squid if you have a good fishing level and rod.
