In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players can engage in many different activities. And, of course, one of your main goals will be completing the Paldea Pokédex. You will need to find and catch every Pokémon in the region. However, this is a rather difficult mission, as many Pokémon live in hard-to-reach locations.

Water Pokémon is a good example. As the name implies, these are Pokémon that live in water. And until you learn to Swim, you won’t be able to get to them.

How to Catch Water Pokémon

Depending on whether you play Scarlet or Violet, you will be able to ride Koraidon or Miraidon. And these Pokémon can adapt to the environment. So, it’s an all-terrain vehicle. But even with Koraidon or Miraidon, you won’t be able to catch Water Pokémon at the very beginning.

At first, Koraidon and Miraidon can only move on land. And to get new abilities, you need to start completing the Path of Legends quest. You can get it from Arven in the Academy Cafeteria.

To complete this quest, you must defeat five different Titan bosses. They are scattered throughout the Paldea region. And for defeating each of them, your mount will receive a new ability. It is worth noting that no matter in what order you defeat the Titans, the new skills will unlock in the same order.

And so, after defeating the first Titan, you will be able to unlock Dash for your Koraidon or Miraidon. Then you must go to the second Titan to unlock the ability to Swim. Luckily, Arven has marked the location of the bosses on your map. And once you learn how to Swim, you can catch Water Pokémon just like any other.
