How to Change Battle Speed in Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream

Following the Atelier Ryza games, which featured experimental battle systems that tried to do things differently than most Japanese role-playing games out there, Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream marks the return of a traditional turn-based combat system that allows players to take all the time they need to pick commands and defeat enemies.

While this combat system allows for a more strategic approach, it also slows down the pace of battles considerably. Thankfully, there is a way to speed them up and make them slightly shorter. Here’s how to.

How to Change Battle Speed in Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream

As mentioned above, Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream features a classic turn-based combat system that is considerably slower than the combat system seen in the Atelier Ryza games. Thankfully, it is possible to speed up battles to quicken the pace and make them a little more enjoyable in the mid to late game.

To speed up battles, all you need to do is press the left stick. Once this is done, you will see a Battle Speed notification in the right part of the screen. Pressing the stick once will increase battle speed to 1.5, while pressing it twice will increase it to 2.0. If you press the stick again when at battle speed 2.0, you will revert back to battle speed 1.0. Use this option to make long animations shorter so as to waste less time in combat watching animations that you have already seen tens of other times.
