How to deal with Mussel Shells in Dwarf Fortress
There are two ways to deal with a ton of Mussel Shells in Dwarf Fortress. First, you can use them at Craftsdwarf’s workshop to make armor, jewelry, and other such Shellcrafts—which, in turn, you can use or trade at different places.

Other than that, you can make a Dumping Zone near a volcano and dump the extra Mussel Shells. But because that is essentially putting them to waste, we recommend you use them at Craftsdwarf’s workshop; just make sure you have Bone Carvers.
You can use the crafts made from Mussel Shells for trading, giving them to Dwarfs (some of them like it as a beauty product), or trade it with Trade Caravans.

And since the Mussels are common in Ocean, Lake, and River biomes, you will always have more Mussel Shells than you need. But now you know you can either use them for crafting, as we recommended, or dump them, as you can always acquire more when you need them.
