Most games nowadays have crossplay enabled by default, with most gamers seeing it as a plus. You can play with random people and friends no matter what console they’re on, but sometimes this can lead to some balancing issues. For example, in general, mouse and keyboard users have an advantage over controller users. Today, we’ll show you how to disable crossplay for COD Modern Warfare 2!
Disabling Crossplay on COD Modern Warfare 2
Before we start, we need to preface this guide with a big disclaimer that crossplay cannot be disabled on all platforms. At the moment, it seems that only the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II can disable crossplay, and this is due to an opt-out requirement by Sony.
In order to disable crossplay, simply go into the game’s settings and go to the Account & Network tab. You should see the option for crossplay under the online section, so simply turn it off to stop matchmaking from grabbing players from other platforms. It’ll be near the top, near the account options.

For whatever reason, the Xbox version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is missing this option, which is strange considering it was there during the beta. If your main concern is that you’ll be matched with PC players, you don’t have to worry yet, as the multiplayer version on PC is not out yet.
So, maybe the crossplay option is only missing for now. Only time will tell if it mysteriously shows up again once the PC version does get the multiplayer component. In the meantime, enjoy your matches, as you don’t have to worry about going up against different input users.
