Under normal circumstances, most Pokémon in Pokémon Go evolve once you have enough Candies, but some of them require an extra step. Primeape is one such Pokémon, so here’s how to evolve Primeape in Pokémon Go.
How do you Evolve Primeape in Pokémon Go?
As of generation 9 (Pokémon Scarlet & Violet), Primeape, the brutal monkey Fighting-type Pokémon, gained a third form, Annihilape. Primeape is so angry that it literally dies from over-exhaustion, and it comes back as a vengeful dual-type Fighting and Ghost Pokémon.
To evolve Primeape into Annihilape, not only do you need 100 Mankey Candies, but you also need to complete an additional objective. To reveal the objective, you first need to set Primeape as your adventure buddy.
After you do that, you need to feed Primeape enough berries or Poffins until it starts walking around on the map with you. The objective should be revealed now, which is to defeat 30 Psychic or Ghost-type Pokémon in battle.
Note that you don’t actually have to use Primeape in battles, he just needs to be set as your buddy and adventuring with you for it to count. Pretty much any kind of Pokémon battle counts: Team Rocket grunt and leader battles, Go Battle League battles, and friendly Trainer battles.
An easy way to finish this evolution objective is to find a friend, challenge them to a friendly battle, and have them use low CP Psychic or Ghost-type Pokémon. Use your strongest Pokémon to take them out quickly, and just repeat until you hit the 30 count. Make sure to return the favor if they’re also trying for an Annihilape!
If you have to switch buddies for whatever reason, the objective saves your progress, so you don’t have to start over from 0 Pokémon defeated.
