How to Evolve Squirtle in Pokemon Masters EX

Pokémon Masters is a mobile game running on Android and iOS. Unlike other Pokémon games in the franchise, Pokémon Masters plays very differently.

The gameplay revolves around 3v3 battles unlike Pokémon’s default format of 1v1 turn-based switch battling. Due to this, players have to pick 3 Pokémon that have the best synergy with each other for best results. Stats generally mean a lot more than normal Pokémon games and variety is definitely an important key to victory!

Talking about the Pokémon in Pokémon Masters, initially, the game only let players have Pikachu as their starter Pokémon, but times have now changed.

Starter Pokémon

Pokémon Masters pushed out a major update to include Eggs and a new Pokémon for players to collect.

In this game, the three Kanto region Starter Pokémon are available through Eggs in Pokémon Masters but, just like in the mainline Pokémon games, players can only select one. DeNA also confirmed that more Eggs will be added at another time.

There are currently three Starter Pokémon available in Pokémon Masters EX:

  • Bulbasaur, the Grass/Poison-type Pokémon
  • Charmander, the Fire-type(eventually Fire/Flying-type) Pokémon
  • Squirtle, the Water-type Pokémon

Today we will be talking about Squirtle and how to evolve it.

Evolving Squirtle

Squirtle is a Water-type Gen-1 Starter Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. To evolve it in Pokémon Masters, the game requires the player to have their Sync Pair reach at least level 30 for the stage two evolution.

Once the pair reaches level 30, the game will reward players with a new Sync Pair side story for those two that will end in the Pokemon evolving. The player also needs at least five of the evolution crystals which can be exchanged in the shop at the Pokemon Center for coins.

After completing the evolution side quest, the Pokémon should evolve as indicated by the evolution cutscene.
