How to Fight Chain Battles in NEO: The World Ends With You

In NEO: The World Ends With You, Rindo and his friends have to battle the Noise in order to win the Reapers’ Game and make it out of the UG in one piece. While Noise can be fought one by one, there are gameplay mechanics that let you chain Noise battles together, making the battles more intense, but more rewarding as well.

Here’s all you need to know about chaining battles in NEO: The World Ends With You.

How to Chain Battles in NEO: The World Ends With You

Noise can only be fought when a Noise symbol that appears while scanning touches Rindo. Once this happens, all you need to do is press the A button to start the battle. For a short amount of time after a Noise symbol touches Rindo, however, it is possible for other symbols to touch him as well, leading to Chain Encounters.

If you enter a Chain Encounter, you will have to fight as many Noise teams as the number of encounters you have chained. You will not be healed after each round, and you will have to start the Chain Battle right from the very first group of Noise if you are defeated, so beware.

At the start of the game, you can only Chain a maximum of 5 battles, but it is possible to increase this limit by learning the Chain Extenders skills via the Social Network. The Chain Extender skills can be unlocked by clearing the Identity Crisis, Get by with a Little Help(er) side quests and via story progression, and linking the nodes with Friendship Points.

Why Should You Chain Encounters?

Chaining encounters is a great way to make grinding for Pin Points a little less repetitive, as the amount you get after you win a Chain Battle is multiplied based on the number of rounds, or Reductions, you have fought. Each Reduction increases the multiplier by 0.1. Drop Rate is also increased by the number of encounters you have chained, so if there is a Pin that you cannot get from a Noise, chain encounters to increase your chances of obtaining it.
