Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest installment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.
The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles, as was the staple of the series thus far.
With Alpha Pokémon being one of the major new additions to the series, today we shine the spotlight on Basculin and its subsequent Alpha variation!
What is Basculin?
Basculin is a Pokémon introduced in Generation 5’s games of Pokémon Black and White. It was unique to the Unova region in those games, but we know now that a lot of species originated from ancient Hisui, including Basculin!
Basculin is a Water-type Pokémon that initially wasn’t anything to write home about. It was commonly found in the waters of Unova and, if stumbled upon when the player’s Pokémon were at a low enough level, this little beast would Chip Away at them till they perished.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus adds another wrinkle to Basculin, making it stronger by adding its powerful evolution, Basculegion! This Pokémon is nothing to mess with, due to evolving from a Basculin that has taken over 300 damage purely from recoil!
With such a beast of a Pokémon, is it possible to encounter its Alpha form in this game?
Alpha Basculin
The short answer to this question is, yes you can! Hisuian Basculin can be found along the Cobalt Coastlands within Tranquility Cover and Islespy Shore. Encountering one will require the player to traverse across the water.
If the player is looking for a challenge and wants to find the Alpha version of Hisuian Basculin, we recommend they go to Fabled Spring, where a guaranteed spawn of Alpha Basculin exists. But as is with every Alpha Pokémon in this game, be prepared for a tough fight!
