Terraria is an action-adventure sandbox game developed by Re-Logic. The game was first released for Microsoft Windows on May 16, 2011, and has since been ported to several other platforms, including Nintendo Switch. The game features exploration, crafting, building, painting, and combat with a variety of creatures in a procedurally generated 2D world.
In 2021, developers Re-Logic and Klei worked together to release their crossover event of Terraria x Don’t Starve. This event added a lot of features from one game to the other, with one of them being the Deerclops boss added to Terraria.
Deerclops
Deerclops is a boss from the Don’t Starve series that was featured in Terraria during the Terraria x Don’t Starve collaboration event.
To summon the Deerclops boss, players need to create a special item called the Deer Thing. The item can be crafted at a Crimson Altar or Demon Altar by using the following materials:
- 1x Lens
- 3x Flinx Fur
- 5x Demonite/Crimtane Ore
Once the materials are gathered, players need to use one of the Altars to receive the Deer Thing. We recommend that players be well-prepared because taking the Deer Thing to the Snow Biome and using it there will summon the Deerclops.
Alternative Method: The Deerclops, like every other Terraria boss, has a natural spawn. For a chance to encounter Deerclops in the wild, players can visit the Snow Biome at Midnight during a Blizzard.
Defeating Deerclops
Deerclops resembles a large deer but with one eye. It is safe to assume that the design is a combination of a Deer and a Cyclops. It is a powerful creature that destroys everything in its path.
When players use the Deer Thing item, the text “Deerclops has awoken” will appear on their screens, following which, the boss will spawn within a few seconds. Some simple tips to make the fight easier would be:
- Start the fight after 7:30 PM, since it is a nocturnal boss
- The Moon Charm and Moon Stone are also helpful in higher difficulties
- Use enough campfires and heart lighting for constant HP regen
- Carry the highest-tier healing potions as backup
- Set traps in the area
- Equip a full set of atleast Gold Armor
- Melee users’ best choice would be the Terragrim while the Hellwing Bow would suit ranged users and the Gray Zapinator for magic users
- Summon users can go with the Imp Staff or the Vampire Frog Staff
- Finally, equip whatever accessories will increase your mobility, especially vertical mobility
Defeating Deerclops will make it drop a variety of Don’t Starve themed items as a part of the crossover event. These include items like the Eyebrella and Lucy the Axe. The higher the difficulty of the battle, the better the loot will be, with master mode delivering the best available loot for ambitious players. Happy hunting!
