Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 has begun and there is a lot to explore! One of the newest features to the island are floating vaults. They are similar to the vaults players will recognise from previous seasons but with a few key differences. Instead of needing two players to open a vault, this season requires Keys. Find out below how to find and use Keys in Fortnite.
How to Get Keys and Use Them in Fortnite
This season, 4 of the vaults are floating above various locations and can be accessed by the ascender zip-line. There are two ways to leave the vault- either by the ascender zip-line or by the vent that makes you glide up and away from the top of the balloon. The other vaults are underground or in basements.
To enter the vault you must first acquire 1 or 2 Keys. These Keys are silver, and give off a faint sound and a silvery sparkle.
Players can only carry 3 Keys at a time, and both are needed to open a floating vault. Vaults underground usually only need 1 Key as they contain less loot. They can be found as floor loot, or in rare or regular chests. You can, of course, also pick them up from any opponent you eliminate.

Once you have both Keys you can find a Vault and put one Key in each lock. When a Key is put into a lock the light turns green, and when both Keys are used the Vault door will open slowly.
Inside the Vault is usually a couple of rare chests, supply crops, lots of ammo, and some heals like Slurp Barrels and Med Kits. It is best to load up quickly in case you get ambushed by another player looking to steal your loot.
That is all you need to know about Keys in this new Fortnite season! Next up, why not find out about all the new named locations for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4. Good luck.
