If you’re not too intimidated already, then we can hop right in!
Chaining Shiny Odds
If the base shiny odds scared you a bit, then this method will cheer you up a little. When you capture or defeat a specific Pokemon in the wild over and over, the odds for that Pokemon being shiny the next encounter increase!
- Defeat/Capture 50 or more Pokemon of the same species in the wild – 1/2048 odds
- Defeat/Capture 100 or more Pokemon of the same species in the wild – 1/1365 odds
- Defeat/Capture 200 or more Pokemon of the same species in the wild – 1/1024 odds
- Defeat/Capture 500 or more Pokemon of the same species in the wild – 1/683 odds
Static Encounters
For static encounters, all you need to do is save before the encounter, and then soft reset your game every time you encounter the Pokemon until you manage to come across its shiny variant. This will, however, always keep the shiny odds at full, so you are going to have to be a bit patient.
Poke Radar Chaining
The Poke Radar lets players chain encounters with Pokemon easily as it causes grass with a certain Pokemon in it to shake and create an encounter when walked into. The Poke Radar chaining method acts similarly to general shiny odds chaining, but in an improved manner.
If a Pokemon encountered through the Poke Radar is captured or knocked out, it will start a chain of increased shiny odds. The next patch of shaking grass will have an increased unit of shiny odds of 1.
What this basically means that if you can manage to get a Poke Radar chain of 40 wild encounters with a specific Pokemon, your shiny odds boost to an impeccable 1/99 chance!
Masuda Method
Named after the Pokemon franchise’s director, Junichi Masuda, the Masuda Method entails having two Pokemon from two different real-world versions of the game come together in the Daycare to breed. drastically increasing shiny odds.
Having two compatible Pokemon from two separate regions of the world breed in the Daycare boosts the shiny odds of the resulting egg to 1/683!
