Getting More Stars in Theme Park Tycoon 2

In Theme Park Tycoon 2, your main objective is to build a successful theme park. The way you measure your park’s success is through your star rating, which can be seen in the top left corner of the game at any time.

Your park’s star rating is a general measure of how well it’s doing, in terms of finances and guest satisfaction. Your park can have up to a maximum of five stars, and the more stars you have, the better it’s performing.

The game doesn’t tell you exactly how to earn more stars, but from what we’ve experienced, it boils down to three different factors: hygiene, stall availability, and exciting rides.

First off, park hygiene is very important. Make sure to have plenty of trash cans available, especially near stalls. If guests don’t have immediate access to a nearby trash can, they’re more likely to just throw their trash on the ground.

You can see trash piles form around your park if this is happening frequently. If you run over to the trash and tap on it, you can clean it up yourself. Even with lots of trash cans available, this may happen from time to time, so be diligent and make sure to tidy up your park. You’ll lose ratings when the park is too dirty.

Secondly, guests will get hungry and thirsty throughout the day, so you want to provide them with easy access to food and drink stalls. Having multiple food stalls throughout your park is a good way to keep your guests well-fed and hydrated.

Don’t forget bathroom stalls, either! Guests will leave your park if they don’t have any bathrooms to use, and you definitely don’t want that.

Lastly, and this is probably the most important factor, guests want a variety of ride options. Building lots of different rides is a great way to keep guests excited and satisfied. You’ll do this naturally as your park expands to bigger and better heights.

As a general rule of thumb, you should try to include at least one of every single ride you have access to. This will ensure that there is a ride for everyone, and also make sure to adjust the prices as necessary. If you select a ride and the tap on the Thoughts tab, you can see what your guests think of the ride.

You want to look out for thoughts that involve the ride’s pricing. Thoughts that mention the ride is very cheap means that you can get away with upping the price a bit. On the flip side, thoughts that mention the ride is too expensive means that you need to bring the prices down.

That pretty much covers all you need to know to get 5 stars in Theme Park Tycoon 2. Build lots of stalls, rides, and make sure your park is nice and clean, and eventually you’ll reach the coveted 5-star status.
