A secret base is one of the most important elements when exploring the Grand Underground in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. However, you can’t actually get one right away once you get your Explorers Kit. Here is how to get a Digger Drill to establish your Secret Base in the game.

How To Get The Quest For The Digger Drill

The first thing you have to do is to get your Explorers Kit from the old man in Eterna City. His house is literally right next to the Pokemon Center in town, so you can’t miss it. Once you get your explorer kit, the old man, known as the Underground Man, will give you tasks to complete.

The first thing he wants you to do is to dig up some treasures in the Underground. All you have to do is look for the shiny spots that sparkle on the wall when you use the radar function. In these, you’ll find things such as valuable spheres and the occasional fossil.

How To Create Your Secret Base With The Digger Drill

Once you’ve dug up some stuff, return back to the old man’s house, and he will grant you a digger drill as a reward for your hard work. This digger drill is how you will create your secret base below.

Go back down to the Underground and choose any spot on the wall, and a screen will pop up asking if you want to place your secret base there. Choose wisely, as the digger drill will break after one use. If you ever want to move your base, you will need to purchase another digger drill from one of the hiker merchants in the Underground.
